Geneseo Development and Growth, Inc.
Early Childhood Development Center
Growth, Inc. is a not-for-profit childcare center licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This means our center and staff meet state regulations and standards for providing quality childcare in a safe, nurturing environment.
Established in 1974, Growth, Inc. was created to provide quality childcare and early education to families in Geneseo and the surrounding communities. What began as a small preschool program in Sue Sieben’s basement has grown into a trusted and long-standing part of the community.
As enrollment increased, Growth quickly expanded to Trinity Episcopal Church, where a full-day childcare program serving 30 children was introduced. In January 1981, Growth moved to the Congregational Parsonage, increasing enrollment capacity to 38 children. Later that same year, in September 1981, Growth began offering additional childcare services for children ages 6 weeks through 12 years at the First United Methodist Church. The program continued to grow steadily, reaching a capacity of 56 children by 1985.
In March 1991, Growth, Inc. moved to its current location adjacent to the Geneseo Community Center, allowing the program to continue expanding and serving more local families.
In 2024, Growth transitioned from offering a School Age Program to introducing Full-Day Preschool and Pre-K programs — the first program of its kind in the area — further strengthening our commitment to early childhood education and kindergarten readiness.
Today, Growth, Inc. is licensed to serve 130 children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old. We remain dedicated to providing a caring, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
